BIOGRAPHY
JL Bait is a multi-instrumentalist/composer who currently is in hiding in the beautiful mountain country west of Colorado Springs. A native of Omaha, Nebraska, he ended up making a name for himself in Fort Collins, Colorado in such bands as Prolly, The Vultures (later known as The Vexations), RacecaR Is A Palindrome, The Pre$ident$ Wive$, The Jack Ruby Trio, Bait & May, The Oliver Cromwell Suicide Project, and many others, as well as performing solo and collaborating with such esteemed artists as Karl Alvarez and Eugene Chadbourne. He also co-founded and runs the DIY label Yellow Box Records, which has released ten albums in seven years, with a wealth of as of yet unheard material to be released whenever he gets off his lazy ass. Tim Bessler informed me of something called the RPM Challenge in, I want to say, November, perhaps even earlier. The idea is quite simple; record at least ten tracks or thirty-five minutes of original, previously unreleased material, ideally concieved and written all in the monthe of February. Right up my alley. Thanks Tim !
The idea of writing and recording an album in a month is nothing new to me. The last album I recorded (way back in Aug 2009 ?! WTF ?!) was written and recorded in a month, with the deadline very much in mind, as I was being evicted from the house I was renting due to it's being sold. Any normal person would have been packing...
Also, in February (ironically) 2005, I wrote and recorded the album "Tira" (Yellow Box Records #006) all by myself, as well as a collaboration with Timmoth Maloney called "Transition Day" (which will finally be released later this year) AND a third album, also with Timmoth called "East
